Wryders

How it works

One profile, the whole world — in your language.

Wryders brings friendship, language exchange, dating and city events together in one place, with translation built into every conversation.

Getting started

Five steps to your first conversation

  1. 1

    Create your profile

Add a few photos, a short bio and your country. Your exact location and contact details are never shown on your profile.

  2. 2

    Add your languages

List the languages you speak and the ones you are learning, with a level from A1 to C2. You can also choose the language Wryders’ interface uses, separately.

  3. 3

Choose what you are here for

Friendship, language exchange, dating (18+) or city events. Pick one or several, and change them whenever you like.

  4. 4

    Set your boundaries

Decide who can find you, who can send message requests or call you, and which countries to include or exclude.

  5. 5

    Start talking

Match, accept a request, or reply to a World Message. Wryders translates as you go, so you can write in your own language.

Four modes, kept separate.

Each mode has its own matches and its own rules. Someone looking for a language partner will not receive dating requests.

Friends laughing together at a café

Friends

International friendship around music, film, food and travel.

Three people talking around a table with a laptop

Language exchange

Practise with native speakers at your level, from A1 to C2.

A couple walking hand in hand in a park

Dating

18+ · opt-in

Across town or across the country — even without a shared language.

A group of friends sitting together looking out over a city

City events

Language cafés, film nights, walks and online watch parties.

Two ways to connect

Matches and message requests.

Mutual match

Like a profile. If they like you back, you match and can start a conversation. No one knows you liked them unless it is mutual.

Message request

Send a short introduction to someone whose settings allow it. They can accept, decline or ignore it. Repeated unwanted requests are limited automatically.

Translation

You write in yours. They read in theirs.

When a message arrives in a language you do not read, Wryders translates it into your language and labels it clearly.

The original is always one tap away, and you can turn translation off for any conversation when you want to practise.

Your interface language is separate from the languages you speak, so you can use Wryders in Turkish while chatting in English and learning Spanish.

Ananya

Malayalam ⇄ Hindi

नमस्ते! क्या आप इस वीकेंड दिल्ली में हैं?

നമസ്കാരം! ഈ വാരാന്ത്യം ഡൽഹിയിൽ ഉണ്ടോ?

Translated from Malayalam · original below

हाँ! शनिवार को कॉफ़ी पर मिलें?

Ananya reads this in Malayalam

Ananya writes in Malayalam and the other person reads it in Hindi. Their reply in Hindi reaches Ananya in Malayalam.

World Message

Send a note to someone, somewhere.

Write a short message and Wryders delivers it to someone who matches your language goals, anywhere in the world. They can open it, reply, or let it drift on. World Messages follow the same age, privacy and country rules as everything else, and are checked for spam.

A World Message arrived

From someone learning Turkish · translated from Spanish

“What is one thing in your city I should never miss?”

More than a chat window.

Voice and video calls

Call when you are both ready, with optional live subtitles in your language.

Watch together, share screens

Sync a video or share your screen and react in real time.

Games and icebreakers

Quick games and prompts for the moment after “hello”.

City events

Create a language café, a film night or a walking tour and see who is coming.

Questions

Do I need to speak another language to use Wryders?
No. Translation works in the background, so you can write and read in your own language. If you are learning, you can switch translation off for a conversation and practise for real.
Can someone message me without matching?
Only if your settings allow message requests. You can accept, decline or ignore each request, and report or block the sender.
How accurate is the translation?
Machine translation is very good but not perfect, especially with slang and jokes. Every translated message is labelled and the original is always one tap away.
Can I use Wryders to meet people in my own country?
Yes. Search nearby, nationwide or worldwide. A Malayalam speaker in Kochi and a Hindi speaker in Delhi can talk without a shared language.
